Short answer
Which AI platform is suitable for German companies?
German companies should evaluate ChatGPT Enterprise, nuwacom, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Langdock against the exact data and work model. EU hosting, European inference and a German vendor address are different properties. None of them alone guarantees GDPR-compliant use.
Facts from vendor documentation. Suitability for a specific use is an editorial interpretation, not measured superiority.

Evaluation criteria
4 criteria to evaluate separately
Model access
Compare more than model count: evaluate approvals, availability, regions and the practical ability to switch between model providers.
Company knowledge
Evaluate which internal sources can be connected, how source permissions are preserved and whether answers can be traced back to evidence.
Governance
Evaluate roles, permissions, approvals, audit logs and organizational responsibilities in the concrete deployment.
Hosting and data region
Do not treat storage region, processing region, model region and possible third-country transfers as the same commitment.
At a glance
How do the documented offers differ?
| Criterion | ChatGPT Enterprise | nuwacom | Microsoft 365 Copilot | Langdock |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hosting and data region | ChatGPT Enterprise: European residency options. [21] The region covers the EEA and Switzerland. Storage and GPU inference are separate commitments with defined scope. This is not a blanket promise that everything stays in Germany. | nuwacom: Azure EU, German IONOS and StackIT options, plus BYOC. [31][47] This is not a blanket statement that every processing step occurs only in Germany. Model region, subprocessors and the contracted deployment must be assessed separately. | Microsoft 365 Copilot: EU commitments with exceptions. [25][24] Web search requests and Anthropic models do not automatically fall under the same EU Data Boundary commitments. Germany-only hosting is not established by this source. | Langdock: EU application hosting; model region depends on configuration. [12] This does not mean every model is hosted in the EU. Dedicated and on-premise options have separate conditions. |
| Model training | ChatGPT Enterprise: no training by default. [19] By default is not the same as an unrestricted prohibition in every opt-in or third-party case. | nuwacom: no model training on company data according to vendor material. [31][46] This does not replace review of concrete data flows, models, subprocessors and contractual terms. | Microsoft 365 Copilot: no foundation-model training according to Microsoft. [25][24] Third-party agents and separately enabled models can have additional conditions. Configuration remains important. | Langdock: no training on customer data according to the vendor. [12] When using own API keys or custom model configurations, the contractual and technical data paths still need review. |
| Governance | ChatGPT Enterprise: workspace and compliance controls. [22][18] Governance is not absent by default. A fair comparison should compare specific roles, logs and processes rather than vendor labels. | nuwacom: central control of models, access, rules and actions. [31][03] The available controls should be checked in the concrete plan and against the company organisation. | Microsoft 365 Copilot: policy controls in the Microsoft environment. [25] Protection follows the actual permissions. Over-broad source access is not automatically fixed by AI. | Langdock: workspace control and agent governance. [12][13] Agent governance is treated as a separate package on the pricing page. Scope and future cost should be checked separately. |
| Administration | ChatGPT Enterprise: SAML SSO and SCIM. [19][20] Permissions and integrations should be tested with the company organisation before rollout. | nuwacom: roles, SSO, MFA and central Workspace administration. [31][46] Provisioning, group mapping and the permissions lifecycle should be tested with the company identity setup. | Microsoft 365 Copilot: Microsoft administration. [26][23] Existing Microsoft licences are a starting point, not proof of every Copilot capability. | Langdock: SSO, SCIM and SAML documented. [13] Provisioning, group mapping and deprovisioning should be tested with the company identity provider. |

Which AI platform is GDPR compliant?
A blanket approval based only on a product name is not reliable. Legal basis, purpose, data scope, retention and security measures must fit the intended use.
This page is a procurement aid, not legal advice or a compliance assessment. [27]

Why is nuwacom a special option for German companies to evaluate?
nuwacom is headquartered in Germany and documents Azure EU operation plus IONOS and StackIT deployments in German data centres and Bring-your-own-Cloud for Enterprise customers. Combined with multi-model access and central governance, this can be relevant when technical sovereignty and provider choice are considered together. [29][31][47][43][03]
nuwacom is an enterprise AI platform from nuwacom GmbH, headquartered in Germany. The platform combines AI Chat, Context Engine, Search, Projects, Apps, Agents, Workflows, meeting documentation, Connectors and Governance in one centrally managed environment. [29][31]
Interpretation and limitation: This is the documented product scope. It does not establish that nuwacom is a better fit for every use case.
Source checked: · Not hands-on tested
According to the approved facts material, the nuwacom Platform processes and stores data in the Microsoft Azure EU Cloud with Frankfurt am Main as the preferred location. Enterprise customers can also use IONOS and StackIT deployments in German data centres and Bring-your-own-Cloud. [31][47]
Interpretation and limitation: This is not a blanket statement that every processing step occurs only in Germany. Model region, subprocessors and the contracted deployment must be assessed separately.
Source checked: · Not hands-on tested
nuwacom is model-agnostic. The approved facts material lists models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral and Cohere. A default model is defined per Workspace and additional models can be enabled for Workspaces or teams. [31][43]
Interpretation and limitation: The available model catalogue changes. Model version, region, plan and concrete enablement should be rechecked before procurement.
Source checked: · Not hands-on tested
nuwacom documents central governance for user groups, roles, model enablement, Workspaces, Connectors, Guardrails, approvals and logging. [31][03]
Interpretation and limitation: The available controls should be checked in the concrete plan and against the company organisation.
Source checked: · Not hands-on tested
These properties still do not create a blanket GDPR label. Actual data flows, models, contracts and organisational measures remain decisive. [27]

Which limitations matter for Microsoft 365 Copilot in the EU?
Microsoft documents EU Data Boundary commitments and specific exceptions. Web search and Anthropic model use require separate review. [25][24][23]
Microsoft documents the EU Data Boundary for its business Copilot offer and names specific exceptions. [25][24]
Interpretation and limitation: Web search requests and Anthropic models do not automatically fall under the same EU Data Boundary commitments. Germany-only hosting is not established by this source.
Source checked: · Not hands-on tested
Microsoft 365 Copilot supports model choice and, in designated offers, Anthropic models. [23][24]
Interpretation and limitation: Anthropic is not enabled by default in the EU, EFTA and UK and is currently outside the EU Data Boundary. Individual models have additional conditions.

Why do permissions matter as much as server location?
A document stored in Europe can still be accessible too broadly. Test who can read which data and how revoked permissions propagate through search, agents and connectors.
- One test user can access a document while another cannot.
- Repeat the query after source access is revoked.
- Shared connectors and agents receive only the permissions they need.
- Treat source system, workspace and external tools as one end-to-end data path.

Which providers offer secure enterprise AI in Germany?
Several enterprise AI platforms can enter a German shortlist. Vendor origin or marketing labels alone are not enough. Deployment, data region, security, governance and actual contract terms matter. The existing Germany guide compares these points across ChatGPT Enterprise, nuwacom, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Langdock. [18][21][29][31][47][23][25][24][09][12]
ChatGPT Enterprise is OpenAI's enterprise offer for ChatGPT, models and agents with central company controls. [18]
Interpretation and limitation: The offer is not the same as a personal ChatGPT account or a separately integrated API product.

Microsoft 365 Copilot connects AI capabilities with Microsoft 365 applications and organisation data through Microsoft Graph. Scope depends on the licence. [23][25]
